As isolated students, it is important to foster the social and emotional wellbeing of students and promote resilience within our rural and remote students.
Cluster wide programs enable students to develop social skills with age peers through peer-mentoring and role modelling, teamwork and citizenship with a focus on developing the whole student. These opportunities include:
- Annual Windorah Sports Camp (held in Term 2)
- Cluster sports days, including: Wally Rae Small Schools Sports Day, cluster swimming carnivals, gala sports days/clinic
- Combined school camps
Water safety and/or learn to swim
Queensland state primary schools are required to offer a water safety and swimming program. Participation in these programs by students is not compulsory and parents can choose for their students not to participate. Our swimming programs are generally offered in Terms 1 and 4 each year, dependent on the availability of the pool and instructors. At Muttaburra State School, swimming is assessed as part of the Physical Education program for at least one term each year, with the other term's program focused on water safety.
Instrumental Music
Due to the small size, lack of interested students and remote location, Muttaburra State School does not offer an instrumental music program at this time.
